Filters.
Can we talk about these presets that are being sold now? Aren’t those what the photo apps are? I have a few apps that can alter pictures, I think everyone must have one or two on their phones by now (except my husband.) I love using it to add rainbows or a sublet hue change to a picture of the sky. But is it a pre request now for moms to post photos of their family only with a portrait setting and a rose coloured filter? Did I miss that in mom school?
I know you’re jumping down my back right now saying you’ve seen me with filters on my pictures. I will whole heartedly agree I have added them here and there. I personally love a great black and white shot. And seeing your skin look flawless is a self esteem boost for sure, I have bad scaring on my face from terrible acne as a teenager. I love being able to look at myself now in a picture and see a clear face, but I also feel strange even posting that photo because it’s not real.
CAN WE STOP PRETENDING PLEASE!!!!! When did we make it the normal to alter reality. I can’t imagine what internet dating is like now! How do you ever know what’s real anymore?!
Listen. I don’t have one mom friend who’s home I have gone into that doesnt have a cute little kids room with toys allllll over the place. A home that’s lived in. A home you walk into and you feel comfortable in. Those are my people. The ones I know I can visit with my kids not having to worry about your crystal collection on a low shelf above your white linen couches with soft yellow throw pillows. Please save me a trip and don’t invite me.
Hey I Pinterest like the best of them longing for my classic country home. But in the realty of it I know that my kids will see that perfect lay out and think, hmmmm where are the toys, and crumbs, and drink cups. Why is this floor so clean? Here let me fix that for you. Again for those reading this thinking well you need to be a better mom and discipline your children. They’d wake up in a time out, sometimes you have to just let go. Also. Stop mom shaming us that like a lived in house.
I applaud you moms that have it all together, but for the moms out here just keeping the house from burning down, I’m with you. I got your back and Ill bring the snacks on the next play date.
